The Ta’aleem Walyatamah Foundation has commenced its annual Ramadan welfare distribution for orphans in Kaduna State, with about 400 beneficiaries set to receive food items, clothing and other basic necessities as part of this year’s humanitarian outreach.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held in Kaduna, the Ameerah of the foundation, Hajia Aisha Shehu Tijjani, popularly known as Aisha Babaye Dahiru, disclosed that the initiative is aimed at easing the burden on vulnerable children during the holy month of Ramadan and preparing them for the forthcoming Sallah celebration.

She said each beneficiary would receive essential food items, including rice, beans, sugar and spaghetti, as well as clothing materials to enable them celebrate Eid with dignity.

Hajia Aisha explained that she has been mentoring and supervising the foundation for 17 years, while the organisation itself has been providing support to orphans for the past 19 years. According to her, the foundation has consistently worked to improve the lives of vulnerable children by not only meeting their immediate needs but also empowering them towards self-reliance through moral and social support.

She further noted that the foundation’s interventions extend beyond the distribution of food items. These include settling medical bills for beneficiaries during visits to clinics and hospitals, as well as paying court fines for inmates in deserving cases. In addition, Islamic clerics are invited to deliver sermons before and throughout Ramadan to provide spiritual guidance and moral instruction to the children and other participants.

The event attracted a large turnout of supporters, donors and well-wishers who gathered to witness the distribution exercise. In his remarks, the representative of the royal father of the day and Grand Patron of the foundation, the Ciroman Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Tijjani, commended the Ameerah and her team for their sustained commitment to the welfare of orphans.

He urged the beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined and hardworking in pursuit of a brighter future, while calling on governments at all levels, non-governmental organisations and affluent individuals to partner in improving the living conditions of orphans across the state.
