The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has confirmed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the substantive Head of Civil Service.
The confirmation, places Maimota in one of the most influential administrative positions in the state, marking a new phase in ongoing public service reforms.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, following a high-profile event for the unveiling of the sixth tranche of payments aimed at clearing outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.
The development comes as the state government intensifies efforts to settle inherited liabilities, with the appointment seen as a strategic move to strengthen the bureaucracy and improve efficiency in governance.
Maimota had assumed the role in an acting capacity about a month ago after the removal of Abdullahi Musa, and her elevation to substantive status reflects the administration’s confidence in her leadership.
Governor Yusuf urged the new Head of Civil Service to leverage her experience in advancing reforms, stressing the need for a responsive, efficient, and accountable public service.
He also congratulated her on the appointment and expressed optimism that her tenure would bring measurable improvements across ministries, departments, and agencies in the state.
