A former member of the House of Representatives, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, has formally declared his intention to contest the Kano Central Senatorial seat, urging the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure a free, fair and credible primary election.

Sharada, who represented Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the immediate past National Assembly, made the declaration on Thursday during a visit to the APC State Secretariat in Kano, where he addressed party officials, supporters and loyalists.

Speaking at the event, the aspirant appealed to the party’s leadership to uphold transparency and fairness in the conduct of the forthcoming senatorial primaries, stressing the importance of internal democracy in strengthening the party.

He said the credibility of the process would determine the unity and success of the APC ahead of future elections.
Sharada explained that his decision to join the race for Kano Central Senatorial District was driven by his commitment to contribute to the development of the zone, leveraging his legislative experience and political network.

He noted that his tenure in the House of Representatives had equipped him with the necessary insight to effectively represent the interests of his constituents at the upper legislative chamber.

Popularly known as “Dan Karamin Sauro,” Sharada assured party members and residents of the district that he would prioritize programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people if elected.

He expressed confidence in his chances, pledging not to disappoint constituents if given the mandate.

The former lawmaker also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, promising to work towards the party’s growth and electoral success.

He pledged support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also committing to collaborate with Abba Kabir Yusuf to sustain ongoing development initiatives in the state.

In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, described Sharada as a grassroots politician with a track record of service to the people. He assured all aspirants that the party would provide a level playing ground for a transparent and credible primary process.

The declaration marks the latest development in what is expected to be a keenly contested race for the Kano Central Senatorial seat, as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the party primaries.
