The National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is holding a high-level meeting in Abuja, where it is expected to officially present Vice-President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
The meeting, taking place at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, is attended by members of the APC National Working Committee and other senior party leaders.
The development follows months of speculation that President Tinubu might replace Shettima with a Christian from Northern Nigeria as his vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Sources among senior APC leaders attending the meeting told Time Express that President Tinubu had reaffirmed his confidence in Shettima and retained him as his preferred running mate for the next presidential election.
The sources added that the party was expected to make an official announcement on the decision later on Friday, following the conclusion of the meeting.
As of the time of filing this report, deliberations were still ongoing, while party members awaited the outcome of the meeting and an official statement from the APC leadership.
