The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has confirmed Comrade Hauwa Sani Zaharaddeen as the substantive Secretary of the Kano Council.
Hauwa Zaharaddeen was sworn into office during the ongoing NEC meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State, following the removal of former Secretary Abubakar Shehu Kwaru.
Also sworn in was Comrade Aminu Shuwajo, the newly elected Secretary of the Jigawa Council.
NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, urged the two secretaries to uphold the union’s constitution and use their experience to strengthen the union and promote journalism.
Both Hauwa Zaharaddeen and Aminu Shuwajo thanked the national leadership and pledged to work with members for the development of the union.
The NEC also recognised Kano Council Chairman, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi, for his contributions to the union and hospitality towards NEC members.
The NEC is the highest decision-making organ of the NUJ.
