2027: INEC Boosts Public Confidence With Gombe Bye-Election, Says Gwamna

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, Dr.Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the orderly and peaceful conduct of the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election held in the state.

Gwamna spoke shortly after casting his ballot at his polling unit in Jekadafari Ward, Gombe, on Saturday, where he expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and the level of participation by voters.

According to him, the peaceful atmosphere recorded during the election has further strengthened public confidence in the electoral process and provided encouragement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I commend INEC and its officials, as well as the security personnel, for their cooperation and professionalism in ensuring a peaceful and orderly election.

He called on political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to prioritise peace, tolerance and respect for democratic procedures, stressing that peaceful elections remain essential to strengthening democracy and good governance.

Gwamna further expressed satisfaction with what he described as the strong support enjoyed by the APC in the state, saying the level of enthusiasm witnessed during the bye-election had reinforced his confidence in the party’s grassroots structures.

He said the APC’s record and programmes would continue to form the basis of its engagement with the people, adding that the party would work to earn the support of voters across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

He, however, urged supporters not to become complacent, stressing the importance of sustained engagement with communities and adherence to the rules governing the electoral process.

He urged citizens to regard participation in elections as an important civic responsibility and to make their voices count by turning out to vote during the 2027 general elections.

The APC gubernatorial candidate also called on security agencies, electoral officials, political parties, civil society organisations and the media to continue working together to ensure that future elections in Gombe State are conducted in a peaceful, transparent and credible manner.

He reiterated his commitment to peaceful democratic engagement and urged the people of Gombe State to continue to uphold the state’s reputation for peaceful coexistence as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
