The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested a 20-year-old suspected vandal and recovered four bags of aluminium electricity conductor cables in Dambatta Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commandant, NSCDC Kano Command, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, disclosed this in a media address in Kano.

Agalama said operatives of the Dambatta Division, while on patrol at about 4:15 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, acting on credible intelligence, arrested the suspect, identified as Jamilu Inusa of Kauyen Mudu, Dambatta LGA.

He said the suspect was intercepted while in possession of a white Volkswagen Golf Wagon with registration number KMC 656 ZJ, which was allegedly used to convey the vandalised materials.

According to him, further investigation and a search operation led to the recovery of four bags containing bare stranded aluminium electricity conductor cables, concealed in a compound within Dambatta town.

Agalama said the recovered cables were ACRS/AAC types commonly used for overhead 33KV, 11KV and low-voltage electricity distribution lines.

He said the Corps had commenced efforts to arrest two other prime suspects who were still at large, adding that appropriate legal action would be taken against the suspects after the conclusion of investigation.

The commandant urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to assist in preventing vandalism and protecting critical national infrastructure.

He also commended the operatives of the Dambatta Division for their vigilance and professionalism.
