The Kano State Government says it will establish mega cities in each of the 36 Local Government Areas (LGAs) outside the Kano metropolis.
The Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kano.
Abdulsalam said the initiative was aimed at addressing rural-urban migration and promoting economic development across the state.
He said the meeting was convened to fine-tune modalities with traditional institutions and local government councils to ensure the immediate take-off of the project.
The commissioner said the administration of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf would continue to ensure that residents in both urban and rural areas benefited from government programmes and projects.
Abdulsalam said the government would pilot the scheme by constructing 50 houses in each of the 36 LGAs.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government to providing projects aimed at improving the well-being and living conditions of the people.
