The Nigeria center for disease control says Kano state scored forty-six percent on the surveillance assessment report that was conducted last year.
Deputy Director Nigeria center for Disease control Oyeladun Okunromade stated this during the Kano state joint Evaluation Report Dissemination meeting held in Kano.
She said NCDC supported Kano state to conduct health security assessments geared toward identifying the key gaps in the Health sector.
Okunromade noted that the meeting was aimed to disseminate the finding of the assessment with a view to fine-tuning modalities of the way forward.
” the report has a good practice, there is a multi-sectorial coordination especially on the covid task force, polio UC, and the budgetary allocation for health emergencies existing in Kano state which is commendable”
She maintained that the key gaps Identified include workforce development, which is not in line with the one the Man Approach.
“Thee National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS) was developed to address the gaps Identified with IHR compliance in Nigeria and support resource mobilization to implement priority activities outlined following the Joint External Evaluation (JEE).”
In his remark, the kano state Commissioner for health commissioner Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa represented by the permanent secretary Hajia Aishat Musa assured the state government’s commitment to ensuring Health assessments achieved the set objectives.
She expressed her thrill in the outcome of the report as Kano state scores were even higher than the national scores.
The Deputy e added that the current administration in kano was according to the health sector the needed priority health sector priority, stressing that 17 percent of its the budget was allocated to the health sector which is above the Abuja declaration Of 2001.
Radio Nigeria recalled that the Kano state team conducted a health security assessment between 15 to 18 of June last year with the assessment done using the adopted health security assessment tool for states in Nigeria as well as the W.H.O benchmark document to validate the self-assessed scores.
