The Federal government has formally handed over keys to beneficiaries of phase one of the National Housing Programme to four beneficiaries in Kano.
The Handing over was Conducted by the Minister of works and Housing Mr Babatunde Raji-Fashola in Jaba, ungogo local Government Area of Kano.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Bashir Nura-Alkali, the minister, said the completed phase one of the national housing programme was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari ,aimed at providing befitting Accomodations to Nigerians.
He said as the administration of Mr President is gradually winding up, it was committed towards completing and handing over of keys to beneficiaries across 35 States and the FCT.
“We are handing over to members of the general public in a non-discriminatory
way by opening the Portal to ensure that those interested applied through the portal and also those that make payments on a first come, first serve basis.
The Minister noted that the ministry welcome those who can afford outright payment, stressing that allocations will be made on the conditions of eligibility.
He maintained that the ministry has offered flexible payment options like Mortgages and Rent-to-Own which encouraged applicants to pursue.
Babatunde Raji Fashola explained that the portal, which was launched on Nov. 12 2021 received 12,387 applications from Nigerians who have created personal account profile on the website, out of which 694 applications were approved by the ministry.
“Today in Kano, we have four Nigerians that are beneficiaries and have fully paid for the houses of their choice within the estate comprising 76-Units of One (1)
Bedroom, Two (2) Bedroom and Three (3) Bedroom.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Alhaji Faruk Adamu Applauded the foresight of the administration of president Mohammadu Buhari for initiating the National Housing Programme.
He appealed to the general populace especially residents to grab the opportunity and participate fully in the programme.
The ceremony was attended the by beneficiaries of the houses, government officials ,and other stakeholders.
