Emir of zazzau MALAM Ahmed Nuhu bamalli has called on well to do individual to assist and support sickle cell patients in the country.
The emir made the call during an awareness campaign to mark world sickle cell day celebration in Zaria.
Mal Ahmed Nuhu bamalli explained that sickle cell patients across the country are usually faced with serious challenges such as medication hence the need to suppoi them.
Represented by Wazirin zazzau ALHAJI Muhammad inuwa Amimu, the Emir said the Emirate is committed to supporting sickle cell patients to ease their condition.
He stressed the need for family with sickle cell patients to always support them so that they can live a good life.
In a massage Dr, SANI Awalu from haematology Department ahmadu Bello university teaching hospital Zaria said enlightening sickle cell patients is one of the panacea to managing their health conditions.
He charged sickle cell patients to maintain the habit of attending clinical always .
Dr SANI Awalu pointed out that the need for government to encourage genotype testing for couple before marriage to reduce the increase of sickle cell among in communities.
President of sickle cell warriors awareness and support SCWAS Hajiya Rabiatu Dan Bala ahmed Called on philanthropist, wealthy individual as well as the three tiers of government to provide free medication to sickle cell patients across the country.
Some sickle cell patients narrated how they are battling with their condition.
