The National Drugs law enforcement agency kano command says it has discovered five farm of Cannabis in different location of kano.
The NDLEA Commander in Kano Abubakar Idris Ahmad stated this while briefing journalist on the activities to Mark the international day against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking , held in kano.
He said the state command of the NDLEA was working tirelessly in curtailing drug abuse and other related issues in the state.
Commander Abubakar idris Ahmad said the purpose of the United Nations day was to raise awareness of the citizens about drug abuse and trafficking menace in the society.
He explained that five Cannabis farms were discovered in the state, which includes a farm at Fari Village in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Yar Bundu Village of Bichi local government area, Another one at Kiru local government Area, another an Mantau forest Danbatta local government and one at Nassarawa Gwarzo local government area of the state.
The commander noted that the command was able to achieve huge successes in the area of supply reduction of illicit drugs from July 2021 to June 2022.
“A total of 12.611.656kg of illicit drugs were seized, which were made up of 9,735.004 kg of cannabis Sativa, 2,875.223kg of psychotropic substances, 1.123kg of cocaine, and 0.128 of Hereon.”
Abubakar Idris Ahmad maintained that within the period under review 1887 persons were arrested by the command within the age of 18 to 35,185 were arraigned before the court,76 were convicted while 109 cases were still pending.
