Over one thousand people have been targeted to benefit from the three days Medical Outreach of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC in Kwara community of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State
The Excercise was under the NYSC’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) aimed at promoting the health status of local communities particularly the Elderly, Women and Children.
Speaking during the commencement of the exercise, the Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Namadi Abubakar said ailments such as Malaria, Typohid, Hypertension, Diarrhoae, Cholera, Diabetes among others would be attended to free of charge.
Alhaji Namadi Abubakar who explained that explained that other ailment that cannot be handled by the Corps Medical Volunteers would be referred to a more competent hospital for treatment said medical corps volunteers and other staff of the Bogoro General Hospital have been equipt with all the necessary requirement to handle the exercise.
The Chairman Bogoro local area, Mr Ilya Habila, who commended the NYSC for the initiative, said the council has complemented the outreach by supplying drugs and other medical consumables for the benefit of the communities.
Mr. Ilya Habila reiterated the council’s determination to collaborate with any development partners towards improving the wellbeing of the people of the local government.
He assured NYSC that people across the 13 wards of the area would be coming en masse for the outreach as enough sensitisation had been conducted before the arrival of the team.
Some of the beneficiaries spoken to Sunday Samuel and Azumi Charles thanked all the stakeholders for the initiative and pledged to use the drugs judiciously.
