The Collaborative Seed Programme (CSP) partnered with Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd hold a brownfield day at Nagari seed demonstration farm located in the Tohu community under the Sabon gari LGA of Kaduna State.
During the programme farmers were Sensitized on the use of quality seed,
training on post-harvest losses and handling of grains during the harvesting operation and storage.
Mr.Ilesanmi Pupa the representative of Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition Ltd, Abuja, encourages farmers to make good use of what they have learned from the green field day and brownfield day in their various communities, they should also cascade the knowledge to other farmers.
He said the use of quality seeds brings a lot of advantages to farmers in terms of yield, resistance to pests and diseases, grain quality, and high market values.
According to him, all hands must be on deck to ensure the adoption of the use of quality seeds among our farmers by creating enabling environment where there will be more partnership and collaboration among the indigenous seed companies, farmers, and the federal government.
In his message at the occasion the Chairman Sabon Gari Local Government Engr. Muhammed Usman said they will collaborate with Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd towards supporting farmers in the area with quality and improved Seed.
Represented by the Supervisory Councilor for Agriculture, Hon. Umar Shehu said, the area has a sizeable number of farmers with a vast farmland.
The Council Chairman commended Nagari Seed for the success recorded in the Company and hoped that their Collaboratiion will benefit them all.
