The Governor of Nasarawa State, Mallam Abdullahi Sule has called for more collaboration between the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies in ensuring peace and stability in the country.
Mallam Sule made the call at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, National Headquarter in Abuja when he inaugurated a Cooperative Investment and Credit Society House for personnel of the corps.
Governor Sule who noted that his administration had taken steps to collaborate with security agencies to address all security threats in the state expressed his willingness to support the NSCDC in the establishment of the cooperative society.
“Nobody can scare us from coming to Abuja but when you go out there to do your work as members of NSCDC but also as people of Nigeria that you are doing for your own children and grandchildren so you should do everything to defend this country”
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi explained that the establishment of the cooperative house was to cater for the welfare Of members of the corps and generate more job opportunities for the teeming youth.
“The idea of the Cooperative House is in furtherance of staff welfare programmes aimed at enhancing the financial status of the Cooperative Society towards uplifting the standard of its members.
The Cooperative House is designed to accommodate such facilities as conference centres, event centres, shopping mall, guest house, gym and other recreational facilities/services that will be available for use not only by its members, but will also be open for use by the general public.”
The Deputy Governor Borno State, Mallam Umar Kadafur applauded the NSCDC for the initiative and stressed the need for such projects to be extended to states commands to improve the welfare of Nigerians.
“Let me also use this opportunity to commend the cooperative society of the Nigerian Civil and Security Defence Corps for having the insight to have an investment for the service. We would like to call upon the state directors to look at this project and replicate it in the states. “
