The blackout enjoyed by the toxic wine of power for the ex Anambra Governor Mr Willie Obiano is now over, his senses are now back. He can now differentiate between fake allies and genuine backers.
His plugged ears, receptive only for lies and fake praising, are now unplugged hearing the sound of reality.
His blurred vision while on the power throne, will now clearly see, when the time seems to be too late for him to recuperate the costly mistakes.
The merriments of
eight-years-in-power have elapsed like the blink of an eye, waiting for the unexpected to happen.
His era of two terms in office turned like a shortly interrupted slumber full of unrealistic dreams.
This will mark his commencement of nail-biting, sheer regrets, blended with hopelessness and frustration.
The beginning of the unusual life has just started.
His fair-weather friends who were the frontline beneficiaries of the eight-year power fiesta are now busy gloating behind the scenes.
While his true, afar admirers, who benefit nothing during the heyday of his reign are bemoaning and grieving to the fullest extent.
And the hearts of the wine and dining associates are pounding vigorously, in fear of the unknown following the arrest of their political patriarch.
Even though the national anti-graft agency didn’t make public the official flawless which the ex-governor was been accused of, nevertheless, the issue of abuse of office is seemingly a front burner, which the agency put the former banker under the eagle’s eyes that pushed his name worthy enough to be inserted into the list of the agency’s watchlist.
The moral lesson attached to the ex Anambra governor Willie Obiano are numerous but clearly understood only for the discerning minds.
The day of reckoning is lurking around waiting and It will surely arrive sooner or later.
It is only a few who knows at the glory days, that power is temporal and transient.
The toxic wine of power doesn’t quench thirst, it only sweetened the ego and blurred the psyche, it turns bitter when the reigning days are over.
Only Rev. Jolly Nyame of Taraba and Joshua Dariye of Plateau understood the true rationale behind the aforementioned adage.
To be heeded is a matter of choice.
