The Initiative for Muslim Women in Nigeria, a renowned charity organization with its headquarters based in Kaduna has awarded the Kano state 2019 governorship candidate Engr. Abba K Yusuf for his contribution to peace building in Kano state.
Abba Gida Gida, who won the 9th March Governorship election with a wide margin was recognized as a peace promoter due to his efforts in ensuring that no violence erupted in Kano after the declaration of the election as inconclusive by the power that be.
The Northern Nigeria based charity organisation said it has chosen this notable personality (Abba Gida Gida) as a Peace Ambassador for his strategic support for peaceful coexistence.
While speaking during the award ceremony, the chairperson of the initiative stated that selection of the prestigious award was based on merit and not for any political reason as Abba Gida Gida deserves any recognition for ensuring Kano that Kano remains a peaceful state despite the lingering political crisis in the last four years.
In his acceptance speech, HE Engr. Abba K Yusuf, represented by Dr. Faruk Kurawa thanked the Muslim Women Organization for the award and reassured his readiness to provide all necessary support for peaceful coexistence among the good people of Kano State and Nigeria in general.
“As a good politician, husband, father and grandfather, I am always ready to sacrifice my comfort for peace, no society can attain it’s target goals without peace” Abba K. Yusuf confirmed
A statement by his media aide, Ibrahim Adam revealed this award is among several others received from January 2020 from various organizations within and outside Kano State recognitions Abba K Yusuf received after the supreme court judgment in January, 2020 from various organisations within and outside Kano State since his mandate was forcefully take away from him.
