The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission (Abuja) under the World Bank Supported Program Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) has organized a two-day refresher training for Social Mobilization Officers on the roles of School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) held at SBMC hall of the Board.
Speaking at the opening of the refresher training, the acting Executive Chairman, SUBEB Alhaji Kabiru Ahmad said the refresher training was aimed at educating the participant’s roles of SBMC members in the BESDA program and preparing them to organize step down training to SBMC for members at schools Cluster levels.
The Acting Executive Chairman stressed that the School-Based Committee’s members have a crucial role to play in school governance, hence the Board would continue to uphold such training to encourage community participation in schools
“As the line between schools and immediate community, we have assured that any decision taken by the committee’s members would be in a favor of the school they are representing”
Alhaji Kabiru called on the participants to be committed, dedicated to justifying the huge amount spent on the training.
In her remark, the Director of Social Mobilization, Hajiya Amina Umar said the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) was established to improve accountability and educational outcomes in the school setting through the engagement of relevant stakeholders.
She noted that a total of One Hundred and Thirty-two participants comprising Head of Social Mobilizations, Desk Officers, and Support Officers from Forty Four Local Government Education Authority are the Master’s Trainers who would step down training to 11,250 SBMC members across the 44 LG.
Hajiya Amina Umar charged the participants to put much interest in the training to enable them acquired skills and knowledge during training so as cascade to the SBMC at school levels.
Earlier the State Chairman, School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) Alhaji Tijjani Haladu Baraya assured the readiness of the committee for the successful conduct of the step-down training at the community level.
“We will mobilize our members at the Community level for their support and cooperation during the step-down training to achieve the set goals”
The Committee Chairman called for mutual understanding between SBMC’s members and Social Mobilization officers for the successful implementation of School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) activities at all levels.
The Forum Chairman of Head Social Mobilizations, Mallam Lawan Yakubu Bechi thanked UBEC, SUBEB, and BESDA Team for organizing the training, and assured their redness to work diligently for the success of the training
