How not to let APC win Kaduna again

Depending on whether the governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are struggling for the party or for their individual interests, the Kaduna state governor, Nasiru Elrufai has founded the best way for the party to win governorship of the state come 2023.

He simply did this when he anointed a money bag as the governorship ticket bearing candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) instead of a promising candidate that can better deliver. Certainly, not even the Kaduna Central he represents as a Senator can he be able to deliver again with ease.

The Elrufai’s anointed candidate, Senator Uba Sani had the opportunity of making a governor of Kaduna state but placed it on the wrong pedestal.

It is now the turn of the PDP to bring out a promising candidate that can better deliver out of the about five aspirants.

They need a candidate that will be accepted in all the three senatorial zones due to the indelible marks he has left behind in the political arena, a unifying candidate.

An unofficial data shows that Senator Shehu Sani will be the best contender among the PDP governorship aspirants to easily bring down the APC’s choice because of his popularity and disposition.

Shehu Sani is now the political bridge between the warring factions of the state that were exploited to win elections in the past on tribal, religious and zonal sentiments. He is the only candidate that a man from the Southern Kaduna will vote for with confidence and without a second thought in just the same way as the man from the Central zone would vote for him.

With these virtues of his, the PDP has an asset with it that can take over power from the ruling APC in the most easiest way. Hence, giving the ticket to him by the PDP should be out of party patriotism not to be decided by delegates. Because Nigerians know what it means for delegates to vote for a candidate because the vote always goes to the highest bidder.

If the ruling party can make its mistake, it will not be wise for the PDP to repeat the same mistake when it has a clear option. If another money bag makes his way and takes over in the PDP, it means the contest will be among two money bags and certainly that of the APC will floor the PDP in that contest.

For the PDP to take over from APC in Kaduna state, they have a simple solution, Shehu Sani should be given the governorship ticket for 2023.
