A Kano Sharia Court in Fagge on Thursday ordered that 25-year old Khalifa Ahmed be remanded in a correctional centre, for allegedly stealing four cartons of indomie worth N19,600.
The defendant, who resides at Fagge street, Kano, is facing a one-count charge of criminal theft, to which he pleaded guilty.
The Judge, Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed, ordered the remand of the accused in a correctional centre, and adjourned the matter until July 26 for summary trial.
Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Mr Abdul Wada, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 27 at Kabobo street in Fagge street, Kano.
He alleged that on the same date at 9:00 p.m., the accused criminally trespassed into one Masa’udu Musa’s shop, and stole the four cartons of indomie.
Wada said exhibits were found in (defendant) Ahmed’s possession when arrested.
He noted that the offence contravened Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law.
