The vice president of sports writers association of Nigeria Northwest Zone Rilwanu Idris Malikawa charged sports journalists to entensify efforts in promoting sports in their domains.
The Vice President made the call in his message to the members of the association in his zone and other sports stakeholders for this year’s world sports day celebrations.
Malikawa said considering the significance role of sports in uniting the country there is need of sports writers to redouble their efforts in mobilizing and enlightening the public on how sports is playing a great role in providing job opportunity to the teeming youths and socio economic development of the nation.
He then urged the state governments in the zone to always considered sports journalists as partners in progress and give them all the necessary support that would help them to discharge their duties effectively.
The vice president assured that the association under the leadership of its National president Mr. Honour Sirawoo would remain focus in projecting the Image of its members and sports sector in general.
Let me used this opportunity to join you as a sports journalists family to celebrate together for this year’s world sports day and wish you many more years to celebrate, Malikawa said.
He used the opportunity and commend Kano, Kaduna and katsina state chapters of the association for organizing successful various sports competitions in their states this year and urged other chapters in the Zone to emulate them.
