Lack of exclusive breastfeeding among infants , major cause of malnutrition -expert

Lack of exclusive breastfeeding to babies is one of the factors that causes malnutrition among children in Nigerian.

A consultant on nutrition bassed in Zaria MAL Sani Hassan disclosed this to mark world’s breastfeeding week in Zaria.

MAL Sani Hassan explained that if babies are breastfeed exclusively, the children will grow up very healthy and have shape brain during their Live.

He said the mother milk is natural and contains a lot of ingredients from Almighty adding that artificial milk is not helping the babies to grow .

The consultant charged nursing mothers to breastfeed their babies exclusively for six month without giving the infant water.

MAL SANI Hassan pointed out that mothers milk already contains water and other valuable minerals that protect the infant from sickness.

He commended the Kaduna state government for taking necessary steps to reduced the high rate of malnutrition among children across the state.

He said in Kaduna state about thirty percent of women are breastfeed their babies exclusively .

MAL Sani Hassan advised all stakeholders in the health sector and the public to intensify efforts to educate mothers to imbibe the habit of giving infant exclusive breastfeeding.
