Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, (MAAUN) on Friday, 5th August 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maryam Abacha American University of Niger on Academic and Research Collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr on behalf of MAAUN Nigeria while Dr. Shu’aibu Tanko who is the Vice President Administration MAAUN Niger signed on behalf of his university.
Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, The President of MAAUN Nigeria, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr said the two institutions have agreed to collaborate on academic and research related activities as specified in the MoU.
Prof. Israr said the scope of the MoU include Developing research projects jointly, Exchange of academic information, materials and facilities; Other areas are students Exchange; Faculty Exchange; Organizing/ participation in Joint symposium, seminar, conferences, workshops as well as promoting cooperation in doctoral (PhD) education.
According to him, the partnership would give the twin universities the opportunity to jointly undertake research projects through sharing of research ideas, data and academic resources that can lead to joint publications.
Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr said “The collaboration will also promote joint research conferences, visitations, and sabbaticals among others.
In his remarks, the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar said the collaboration was timely considering the areas of similarities the two universities have in common.
He noted that the MoU would further cement the existing bond of friendship and togetherness between the two universities.
Also speaking, the Vice President of MAAUN Niger, Dr. Shu’aibu Tanko said Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, Maradi, Niger Republic is the first officially approved bilingual University in Sub-Sahara Africa.
He explained that the university is fully recognized by Nigerian Government Federal Ministry of Education, accredited by the Accreditation Services for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) United Kingdom and a member of the American Council on Education (ACE).
He said the dream of the university is to make a difference in the lives of others by providing people with high quality and sound education.
He expressed happiness that MAAUN is an exceptional institution of learning that comes to be one of the innovative and leading private universities in Africa and the world that offers various degree programs in many disciplines.
“Our aspiration is to make MAAUN-Maradi-Niger Republic a center of academic excellence, where youths will get the right knowledge and experience, they need for their life to prosper and to enable them to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing world,” Murtala Musa said.
The signing of the MoU was attended by Engr. Bashir Mohammed Garba, Head International Office of MAAUN Nigeria and Dr. Musa Lawal Jibia, Vice President Campus life and Murtala Musa, Head of Examination, MAAUN.
