DR LAMIN SANI ZAWIYYA : A Capable successor TO GARO

There is no gain saying that the appointment of Dr Lamin Sani Zawiyya as the commissioner for local government and chieftancy Affairs by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of kano state is something to write home about.

This is not far fetched going by his unblemished track record as a season Banker cum politician who creditably navigated the affairs of one of the most populated Local Government Areas nationwide for an uninterrupted period of six years

Certainly, one would not argue if this is the brain behind the appointment of the former chairman when his predecessor stepped down after he was nominated to be the running mate to Apc Gubernatorial candidate Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna during next year’s polls.

We are of the firm believe that the, appointee being a person that knows the tricks of the game will by no means consolidate on the Sterling examples of his predecessor hence facilitating the re-election of the ruling party next year
When the larger society would witness Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna on the driving seat in Kano and tireless Murtala Sule Garo deputizing

Thus, the 23rd August, 2022, Kano state House of Assembly screening of eleven personalities sent by Governor Abdullahi umar Ganduje to be appointed as commissioners comprising Dr Lamin sani zawiyya who recently left his position of special Adviser to the state Governor on local government to aspire for federal house Representatives seat of Nassarawa costituency, was a welcome development by one and all

Dr Lamin sani who is an intimate to Garo is an individual that has all the pre- requisite to hold the plum position being a former Chairman of Algon and a politician of repute

Sincerely speaking, on Friday, 2nd September 2022,at a gathering attended by who is who in APC, when Governor Ganduje sworn in new commissioners with Dr Lamin sani zawiyya heading the aforementioned ministry, this did not come as a surprise

The appointee escorted by hundreds of faithful a testimony of his love and affection by his people, assumed office on Monday the Fifth of this month where he pledged to do the utmost in observing his spelt out goals in order to prove doubters wrong.

He appealed for the optimum
support and co-operation of the staffers of the outfit through drawing his attention wherever he erred as he is not a semi god

Dr Lamin sani zawiyya without Oita of doubt or sentiment,was born on 15th July, 1970 in the ancient city of kano

His father Malam Sani Zawiyya, was one of the prominent traders as well as Islamic scholars in the heart of the city

He started his Islamic education at the age of three and at six he was enrolled into Mayanka primary school and at completion in 1982, he was admitted into Government secondary school Gwammaja II where he graduated in 1988

The former local government chief executive, obtained Diploma in Business Administration from Northern institute of management and Technology in 1991 and a certificate in Advanced Diploma in Banking and finance from kano state school of management studies in 2005

He registered for a High National Diploma (HND) in same course and
institution later on.

In 2010-2011,Dr Lamin attended Bayero university kano for post graduate Diploma in Banking and finance, and secured masters in the field in 2014.

Other certificates got by the commissioner include that of fisheries in 2002 at Dynamo cat fish institute Lagos and certificate in printing Technology with school of Technology kano in 1992.

, He was a one-time chairman and Managing Director of Lion heart Global merchandise limited, member kano state Drainage committee from 2012-2014.besides overseeing the affairsl of ALGON kano chapter in the recent past and Director Bompai micro finance bank likewise, Board member kano state sports commission in 2016

He served as chairman youth campaign committee for Buhari and Ganduje in 2019.

Dr Lamin sani was the author of ‘ NAGARI NAKOWA’ a biography of one of Africa’s finest politicians and father of radicalism in Nigeria Malam Aminu kano and ‘ AL-QUR’ANI LITTAFIN ALLAH GAGARA GASA’ a book of Qur’anic miracles.

Dan sani received numerous awards such as letters of commendation from kano state government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi umar Ganduje and kano state House of Assembly in 2017.

The ex-local government executive officer conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degree by European American University in 2016 and awards of excellence from World Assembly of youth, Tirana, Albania as well as African youth reconciliation initiatives (AYRI).

Dr Lamin Sani zawiyya won Best local government chairman in Kano award by the Senate Committee on states and local government in 2017 and second Best council chair in the Northwest geopolitical zone in the same year.

He was the awards recipient of NAKSS, RATTAWU, NACOSS, SUBEB, the National Association of Banking and finance students and African leadership Magazine.

During his first tenure as local government chairman, Lamin has been succeede in executing and completed lone hundred and thirty eight public oriented projects across nooks and crannies within his domain and one hundred and ninety projects during his second tenure in 2018.

All the policies and projects he had achieved were centered around education, health care services, roads and infrastructure, empowering youth and women, security among others.
