Sensitizing People on the Acceptance of Covid 19 Vaccines Pivotal to Curtailment of the Virus – CTAD

Adequate sensitization on acceptance of Covid 19 Vaccines on social media has been described as a catalyst for the massive acceptance of the vaccine among the general populace.

The coordinator for Public Education on covid vaccine project of the center for information technology and development CITAD Malam Hamza Ibrahim disclosed this during a forum organized in Kano.

He said the main objective of sensitizing the general populace about the importance of excepting covid 19 Vaccine was to curtail the spread of the virus.

He said the rate at which misconception and fake news on covid 19 was on the increase on social media was very alarming hence measures needed to be implored In ensuring that people were fully educated on the importance of accepting the vaccine.

“The sensitization is very paramount because people are not sufficiently informed, most people believe the lies on social media, that is why it is important to explain and sensitize the public on the importance of accepting covid 19 Vaccine”

Hamza Ibrahim noted that if efforts were not being put together the stated objectives would be achieved.

Have said  since inception, the program  focused attention on creating awareness around COVID-19 vaccine with a view to getting acceptance and uptake of the vaccine by the general public in Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, kogi, Kano and Plateau states.

Hamza Ibrahim pointed out that, research indicates that, fear of adverse effects of the vaccine, healthcare workers vaccine hesitancy,lack of risk communication strategy and Nigeria’s vaccine policy  are some of the setbacks to covid 19 vaccine in the country.
