Nigeria at 62: Independence Anniversary coincides with the moment of resilience.

Glory be to the imperial, Almighty God who in his divine manipulation prolongs our temporal life to witness yet another anniversary of our beloved nation – Nigeria.

The land of joy and sadness, riches and deprivation, windfall and shortfall, ultimately, Nigeria is the land of bumper harvests and retiring to bed with a rumbling stomach.

We thank God for giving us – we the Nigerians for the fortitude and resilience to absorb the aforementioned trials of living.

Nigeria at 62nd years of Independence anniversary has transformed in all ramifications beyond where she was left by its colonial masters, six decades ago.

No doubt about that!

But, had a nation’s economic growth, at this point will be juxtaposed with its peer’s rapid development, there’s something considerably, but not too big to write home about.

But, despite that, we are happy to be ahead of other countries and deserve to be thankful to God, Almighty.

Candidly speaking, our beloved nation hasn’t reached the promised land, which all are dreaming of, notwithstanding the human and mineral resources that the nation is divinely endowed with.

This is because corruption and ill-governance have a predominance influence within the political space of the nation – from the top to the bottom.

This year’s 62nd independence anniversary has come in a pensive mood and at a time when the vast majority of the population is testing the ravages of deprivation at the expense of a few who are destined to enjoy a good living at a time of scarcity.

Apart from the challenges of insecurity, which is holding the forte for a long, the trajectory of daily inflation in Nigeria is continuously castings doubt in the minds of larger marginalized citizens about ruminating the validity of their citizenship status.

The daily chain of hardship habitation among the populace has bereft them to enjoy what’s rightly entitled to receive.

The majority, can’t afford proper medical care, access to qualitative education is exclusively for the rich, epileptic power supply becomes household name, while plying the national highways, is like taking a daring suicide among others.

In fact, at this point of the Independence Day anniversary it is glaringly clear that, to the common man in Nigeria, life in all its uniformity is hard.

The slogans of Nigeria, the giant of Africa, or Nigeria should be great, sound utopian to many, particularly to those who have diluted optimism about the Nigerian trajectory to greatness, in view of how the self-interest remains the primary drive within the governance and followership scope.

But, I do have strong optimism that, our one and only Nigeria should by the grace of God, would surmount its challenges in the nearby future.

To cap it all, despite all the economic depressions bedeviling the common man, he resorted to continuing to exercise resilience and praying, keeping in mind that hard times are not forever.

Instead of taking to the street to fight for his right, he chose to take his rosary, murmuring for God’s forgiveness and interventions to curved the economic downturn ensnaring our beloved nation – Nigeria.

There’s a need for all and sundry to re-orient and discipline ourselves so that we can attain sound and spiritually refined hearts so that God will help us to confront the nation’s challenges.

I pray for more resilience to Nigerians’ at 62nd Independence Day anniversary and beyond.

Remember, the hard times are not forever.
