In recent days motorist plying Funtua to Gusau road have been encountering problem plying the road because of resurgence of activities of bandit’s along the road.
Investigation reveal that not only motorists plying the road but also residents of towns and villages living along the road are also living in fear for feared of being attacked by the bandits.
Areas mostly affected along the road are between Sheme in Katsina state and Tsafe and sorrounding areas.
A motorist plying the road who expressed concerned over the development describe the situation as terrible
He said from second October 2022 to Saturday 8 October 2022 bandits have blocked and attacked commuters about twenty times ,two three times in broad daylight .
According to him,some unspecified number of people have been killed while several people kidnapped by the bandits.
A resident of Kucheri situated along the road who pleaded for anonymity said sometimes soldiers have to be called to escort motorist when the bandits strike on the road.
He said people living in the areas are living in fear of being attacked by the bandits and called on the authority concerned to rise up to the of securing not only the road but sorrounding villages.He said the situation has impacted negatively on socio economic activities in the area and plead for emergency action to restore normalcy on the road and village’s situated along the axis.
In one of such incident this Saturday ,the bandits strike between Yan doto and Tazame blocking the main road along Funtua to Gusau road Killing some people including two army personnel.
All effort to contact relevant security agencies to comment on the issue proved abortive. END
