World sight day 2022: Over 12,000 people to benefit from various eye intervention in Kano -Commissioner

The Kano State commissioner for Health Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa says the state government would sponsor eye intervention at which over 12,000 Peole would benefit , in commemoration of world sight day n kano.

Dr Aminu Ibrahim.Tsanyawa stated this during a press briefing on the commemoration of 2022 world sight day.

The commissioner represented by the Director General hospital management board Dr Nasiru Alhassan Kabo said during the last year’s event over 17 thousands people benefited from various eye intervention including contact surgery, glasses, eye-drops and other medications in Kano.

He pointed out that pointed during this year’s event which will commence on Thursday 27th October in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area similar programs will be conducted with targeted over 12 Thousands patients throughout the state.

“Kano state government has institutionalized primary eye care into primary health care system, a memorandum of understanding/has been signed with Makka Eye Hospi, stressing that modern health facilities were renovated and supplied with Opthalmology equipment.

Dr Aminu Ibrahim.Tsanyawa further said the ophthalmology unit of Muhammad Abdullahi wase Teaching Hospital has been renovated and well equipped.

“specialise eye services has commenced, a comprehensive eye center has been established in Dawakin Tofa General hospital, also all the Four newly established emirate specialist Hospitals has comprehensive eye health unit.”

Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa commended Kano state government for it’s efforts to improve the health sector. He thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders, development partners for their support in improving the healthcare sector in the state.
