521 NYSC members posted to Borno tested COVID-19 free

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says about 521 2022 batch one stream ll corps members posted to Borno State were screened and tested COVID-19 negative.

The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Alhaji Nura Umar disclosed this at the swearing in of the Corps members on Tuesday at their temporary camp in Katsina.

The corps members posted to Borno have been camping in Katsina State, due to the security situation there.

According to him, out of the 521 NYSC members that registered, 275 of them were males, while the remaining 247 were female Corps members.

Umar further explained that the Corps members and also the NYSC officials were all screened on their arrival to the camp, before granting access.

He therefore called on them to make proper use of the COVID-19 prevention equipment placed in different locations within and outside the camp’s premises.

The NYSC Coordinator called on the NYSC members to avoid posting the camp activities on social media, and also stay away from spreading fake news.

Umar further appealed to the corps members to avoid any act that could derail the purpose of the three weeks orientation course, urging them to respect camp officials.

According to him, it has become necessary for them to engage fully in all the camp activities, especially the skill acquisition training.

He pointed out that by engaging fully in the skill acquisition training, the corps members will get the experience that they may have not had before.

The Coordinator explained that the purpose of the skill acquisition training introduced by the Federal Government was to make the youth self-reliant.

He commended the Gov. Umara Zulum of Borno State, Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina, security agencies and other stakeholders for their tireless support to the scheme.

The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by Justice Kabir Shu’aibu, a High Court judge in Katsina.
