A nongovernmental organization named Grassroot Root Smile Initiative in conjunction with Access Bank has provided free oral services to over five thousand people in Kano State.
Speaking during the grand finale of the services at a government general hospital in the fagge local government area of the state, the chairman and chief executive officer of the NGO professor Ade Adebola said the gesture was aimed at providing oral health outreach to the teaming populace of kano.
He said Grassroot Smile Initiative with the support of Access bank had conducted oral health services at six local government areas of Kano north senatorial district, which includes Nassarawa, Tarauni, Gwale, Municipal, and finally Fagge local government.
” We are rendering services in oral health, and I want people to know that oral health is not just about teeth but general health, what we are providing is preventive, promotional, and curative services for people who cannot afford and people who do not have access to oral health care in the community”
Professor Ade Adebola said over five thousand people from these six local government areas would benefit from it. the gesture.
The chief executive of the NGO was the foundational Dean of Dentistry at Bayero University Kano, and the philosophy of the University was to take oral health out of the clinic and take it to the community, saying Access Bank had made their dreams become reality by sponsoring the services.
In her remark, the representative of Access Bank Fumilayo Eyusuile said the reason behind sponsoring the services by the Bank was to provide their social corporate responsibility.
She said Similar gestures were being provided in different parts of the country, saying it is a way of giving back to society.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to journalists commended the NGO and Access Bank for providing support and urged philanthropists and other groups to emulate the gesture.
