In celebration of the 2024 International Peace Day, the Kano Peace Committee Football Academy was formally inaugurated on September 23, 2024, in Kano State.
Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, Executive Director of Citizens for Development and Education, performed the inauguration ceremony, emphasizing the importance of engaging youths in peace-building efforts
The Objectives of the Academy includes
Providing a platform for young talents to pursue their football dreams at local, national, and international levels,Foster peace, social cohesion, and patriotism among youths, regardless of ethnic, regional, or religious differences
As well as Transforming players into peace advocates and peace-building agents in their communities
Key Leadership Appointments includes
Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya: Unanimously endorsed as Chairman of the Academy
– Dr. Habib Abubakar Awais: Nominated as Secretary General of the Academy
The players expressed gratitude to the Kano Peace Committee for its tireless contributions to peace development and security in Kano State and beyond.
This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s goal of promoting unity and peace among its diverse population By leveraging football as a tool for peace-building, the Kano Peace Committee Football Academy aims to inspire positive change and foster a culture of peace in the region.
