The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has declared its readiness to receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into its fold, amid growing political speculations over his possible defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The Kano State Chairman of the APC, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, made the party’s position known in a press release issued at the state headquarters along Maiduguri Road, Kwanar Sabo Hotoro, Kano.
He said the party was prepared to welcome Governor Yusuf should he decide to join the APC, stressing that the move would be driven by unity, reconciliation and the overall interest of the state.
According to Abbas, the APC’s stance reflects a broader desire to consolidate peace and foster inclusive governance in Kano, rather than partisan rivalry. He explained that the party views the anticipated development as an opportunity to bring political actors together for the common good of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the party’s national leader and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC chairman emphasized that the invitation extended to Governor Yusuf was anchored on the need to strengthen cooperation and chart a new path for development across the state.
“This is about unity, reconciliation, and moving Kano State forward,” Abbas said. “The APC is ready to receive Governor Yusuf with open arms so that, together, we can combine our strengths for the progress of the state.”
He further noted that, upon any formal entry into the APC, Governor Yusuf would not be alone, as other NNPP stalwarts were also expected to join him. These, he said, include members of the National Assembly, the Kano State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, elected councillors, political appointees and party supporters.
Abbas assured that all prospective entrants would be received under the leadership of Dr. Ganduje in an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and collective responsibility, aimed at strengthening the APC and deepening democratic governance in Kano State.
