Dungurawa Dismisses Expulsion Claims, Insists He Remains NNPP Kano Chairman

The embattled Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, has firmly declared that he remains a bona fide member of the party and the duly recognised chairman of the NNPP in the state, dismissing reports suggesting otherwise as baseless and misleading.
Dungurawa made the clarification while briefing journalists in Kano, amid growing speculation over leadership tussles and alleged defections within the party’s Kano chapter.
He maintained that neither the state nor the national leadership of the NNPP has taken any decision removing him from office, insisting that his position remains intact.
According to him, the NNPP leader and former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been actively engaging critical stakeholders of the party across different levels in an effort to strengthen internal cohesion and reposition the party for greater political success.
He said these engagements were ongoing and aimed at ensuring unity and stability within the NNPP.
The NNPP chairman disclosed that significant progress has so far been achieved in the consultations being led by Senator Kwankwaso, adding that party members and the general public would be fully briefed once the process is concluded.
He urged party supporters to remain calm and patient as efforts to resolve internal issues continue.
Dungurawa also reacted strongly to claims that he had been expelled from the party by some individuals from his ward, describing the move as inconsequential and lacking constitutional backing.
He dismissed the purported expulsion as “a child’s play,” stressing that such actions have no legal or political weight within the party’s structure.
He explained that the NNPP has clear guidelines and disciplinary procedures, which cannot be circumvented by a few disgruntled members acting on their own.
According to him, no ward has the authority to expel a state chairman without due process and ratification by the appropriate organs of the party.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the NNPP and its leadership, Dungurawa said he remains committed to the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya movement and the collective vision of the party.
He warned against attempts by external forces to destabilise the NNPP in Kano through misinformation and internal discord.
The NNPP chairman concluded by calling on party members to remain focused, united and loyal to the leadership of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, assuring that the party would emerge stronger from its current challenges and continue to play a significant role in Kano and national politics.
