The Kano State Police Command has successfully resolved the case of a missing teenager found in Dadin Kowa Village, Doguwa Local Government Area, bringing a dramatic end to what initially appeared to be a puzzling identity claim.

The teenager, who had earlier identified himself as a Spanish national named Alex Ansol, has now been confirmed as 16-year-old Yusuf Sabiu following a thorough police investigation.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command launched an intensive inquiry after the boy was discovered under unclear circumstances.

Investigations revealed his true identity as Yusuf Sabiu, leading to efforts that eventually traced his biological parents across different states in the country.

Police authorities identified his father as Saminu Yusuf, 44, a resident of Lere Local Government Area, and his mother as Habiba Alhassan Adam, 35, from Plateau State.

Further findings showed that the parents had been separated for over 13 years, a development believed to have contributed to the teenager’s situation prior to his discovery.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed that Yusuf Sabiu has since been formally reunited with his parents at the Doguwa Police Division in Kano. The handover was conducted under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, marking the successful conclusion of the case.

The Command expressed appreciation to members of the public, particularly the media and social media users, whose prompt dissemination of information significantly aided the investigation and eventual tracing of the teenager’s family.

Police authorities noted that public cooperation remains vital in addressing similar cases swiftly and effectively.
While urging parents and guardians to promptly report missing persons to the nearest police station, the Command also advised separated or divorced couples to maintain open communication regarding the welfare of their children.

It emphasized that a stable support system, regardless of family differences, is essential in preventing children from exposure to harm or unsafe environments.

Residents were also encouraged to utilize emergency contact lines provided by the Command or the “NPF Rescue Me” mobile application to report urgent situations, reaffirming the Police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kano State.
