Akwa Ibom Police Reaffirm Commitment to Community Policing, Crime Prevention

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to strengthening community policing, enhancing proactive crime prevention strategies, and enforcing laws aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

The assurance was given by the Commissioner of Police, who emphasized that the Command remains focused on building a secure environment through effective collaboration with residents, community leaders, and other stakeholders. According to the Commissioner, community policing remains a critical component of the Command’s security architecture, as it promotes trust, cooperation, and information sharing between the police and members of the public.

He noted that the Command has continued to deploy proactive measures to prevent crime, respond swiftly to security threats, and maintain public order in all parts of the state. The Commissioner stressed that law enforcement personnel have been directed to remain vigilant and professional in the discharge of their duties while ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven within Akwa Ibom.

The police chief also called on residents to support ongoing efforts by remaining security conscious and reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. He urged members of the public to provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing crimes and apprehending offenders before they carry out unlawful acts.

According to him, intelligence supplied by citizens plays a vital role in combating criminality and enhancing public safety. He assured residents that all information received by the Police would be treated with the highest level of confidentiality and acted upon promptly to prevent breaches of peace and security.

The Commissioner further emphasized the importance of sustained partnership between the Police and the public, noting that effective policing cannot be achieved without the active participation of communities. He explained that the Command would continue to engage with various stakeholders through community outreach programmes and other initiatives designed to foster mutual trust and cooperation.

Reaffirming the Command’s dedication to its constitutional mandate, the Commissioner stated that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains resolute in safeguarding lives and property across the state. He pledged that the Police would continue to intensify efforts to track down and prosecute criminal elements, ensuring that anyone involved in unlawful activities is brought to justice.

The Command assured residents that it would remain steadfast in its mission of maintaining peace, preserving public order, and creating a secure atmosphere conducive to social and economic development throughout Akwa Ibom State.
