Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj to serve as good ambassadors of the state during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
The Governor made the call at the Hajj Camp while observing a practical demonstration exercise for pilgrims ahead of their departure.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, stressed that individual conduct reflects the values of one’s society. He advised the pilgrims to uphold discipline, humility, and brotherhood as they join millions of Muslims from across the world in the holy land.
As part of support for the pilgrims, the governor donated 200 Saudi Riyals to each intending pilgrim and also provided free Ihram garments. Samples of the Ihram were distributed to some beneficiaries at the camp by the deputy governor.
In his remarks, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, thanked the state government for its support, noting that all visas had been secured despite initial challenges.
He added that the first batch of pilgrims would depart on May 14, 2026, for Madinah.
