The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups planning to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the state, urging them to desist from acts capable of undermining public peace and order.

The Command cautioned against violence, intimidation of delegates, snatching of election materials, sponsorship of thugs, and other forms of criminality, stressing that such actions would not be tolerated.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the Command assured residents that adequate security measures had been put in place across all designated venues to ensure a peaceful, credible, and hitch-free exercise.

The statement added that tactical teams, intelligence operatives, patrol units, and other security assets had been strategically deployed across the state to maintain law and order throughout the primaries.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has directed all officers and personnel deployed for the exercise to act professionally, remain neutral, and deal decisively with any individual or group attempting to breach the peace.

The Command also called on parents, political leaders, and sponsors of violence to caution their wards and supporters against engaging in unlawful activities, warning that offenders would be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted regardless of their status or political affiliation.

It further emphasized that anyone found engaging in acts capable of causing a breakdown of law and order would be dealt with in accordance with the law, reiterating that Akwa Ibom State would not serve as a ground for political violence, thuggery, or intimidation.

Residents were encouraged to go about their lawful activities without fear while remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious movement or security concerns to the nearest police formation.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring peace and public safety before, during, and after the APC primaries.
