Right from day one, I knew all the stakeholders from Kano North Senatorial zone, would weather the political storm plaguing the zone, in their effort to consolidate feats achieved by the Senator representing the area, His Excellency, Deputy Senate President, Distinguished Senator Barau I Jibrin, PhD, CFR.

Political differences are always normal and more pronounced in political environment where the existence of heavyweights and influential figures paves way for the widespread of noticeable visibility of quality engagement. Kano North houses notable figures like, His Excellency, Deputy Senate President, Barau I Jibrin, former Governor of Kano state, His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, His Excellency, Deputy Governor of the state, Murtala Sule Garo, His Excellency, former Deputy Governor, Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo and member House of Representatives, from Bichi federal constituency, who chairs House Committee on Appropriation, among other political juggernauts.

Therefore clash of political interests among these heavyweights, shouldn’t be seen as a strange political development. Each of them, is a king in his own right. They all need each other for the survival of the party and for healthier political atmosphere. None of them is an island on himself. Pariah position, cannot in any way, keep political souls and bodies together.

Apart from commending them all, let me say bravo to His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his examplary leadership and effort in spearheading the process. His navigation role, as a leader of the party, All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state, speaks volumes about his political sophistication and foresight posture, at all levels of governance. So also at the level of party politics.

Immediately after the consensus arrangement of DSP’s race for another 4 years, from 2027, in the Senate, I came across an interview the DSP granted to the media, in it he commended His Excellency, the Political Adviser to the President, Ibrahim Masari, for the role he played in the consensus arrangement.

That alone carries more message than many other efforts, that, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has special interest in the state, its votes and development. Where else, did Masari played such a key role in the entire Northern part of the country. Which involves a political office higher than that of the Deputy Senate President? Where, please where?

With the coming together of Barau, Garo and Gwarzo, it shows that Kano North still remains the stronghold of APC in the state. I still believe that, Kano North will give more votes to the Governor and President. Political leaders from the zone have more interest in the party, APC. As they are the leaders who are more closer to the grassroot than the remaining two zones. Kano Central, where I come from and Kano South. Reason? The 2023 general election.

The way I see it, is not only a political parasite, who comes again from the backdoor to re-instigate the clash of interest of the APC heavyweights from Kano North, but a destroyer and a devil, whose interest is to see to the total uproot of the ruling APC. But with the able governor on the top of the situation, such machination may not hold water again.

I am certain that, as DSP started bringing development to his people, his primary constituency, as well as other parts of the state, this development will give him more courage to clearly understand that, his people, including his hitherto political opponents enjoy his presence in the Senate. I’m sure that, he will redouble his effort and his open door policy, will remain wide open and intact.

Victory and the DSP, are but inseparable entities. So when DSP smiles, it is as well, the smile of the victory, for the betterment and progress of our societies. Democracy still needs courageous and brighter elements like Senator Jibrin in the centre of everything.
