The political atmosphere in Sokoto State took on a renewed tone of unity and consolidation as the Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, openly commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for what he described as his people-oriented leadership and steady delivery of democratic dividends.
Wamakko made the remarks during the formal affirmation of Governor Ahmad Aliyu as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The event, held at the APC State Secretariat in Sokoto, drew party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters who gathered to demonstrate solidarity and reinforce internal cohesion within the party.
Speaking at the gathering, Wamakko praised the governor’s loyalty to the APC, describing it as consistent and instrumental in strengthening trust among party members across the state.
He further applauded Governor Aliyu’s commitment to sustaining developmental projects across Sokoto State, noting that the administration has remained focused on improving infrastructure and expanding access to basic services.
According to him, the governor’s style of governance reflects a leadership that prioritizes the needs of ordinary citizens while ensuring that development is evenly distributed across communities.
The APC leader also emphasized that the growing confidence among party members is a result of deliberate efforts by the governor to maintain inclusiveness and transparency in governance.
He commended APC stakeholders in the state for what he termed remarkable discipline and unity, saying the consensus arrangement that produced the governor’s candidacy is evidence of political maturity within the party structure.
Wamakko noted that such unity is critical for sustaining political stability and ensuring continued progress in governance delivery across Sokoto State.
Reflecting on the political developments following the 2023 general elections, he stated that the defections experienced by the APC eventually strengthened the party rather than weakening it.
He explained that the realignments helped to reposition the party, rebuild trust among supporters, and consolidate its grassroots presence ahead of future elections.
According to him, what initially appeared as a setback turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it allowed the party to reorganize and emerge stronger.
Wamakko expressed confidence that the APC is fully prepared to secure victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections, provided members remain united and committed to the party’s ideals.
He urged party faithful to continue supporting the administration’s developmental agenda and to work closely with government structures to sustain progress across the state.
The event ended on a note of optimism, with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the APC’s political base and advancing governance delivery for the benefit of the people of Sokoto State.
