The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has pledged its full support for the Safe Corridor Programme initiated by the Kano State Government to address political thuggery and other forms of youth-related violence in the state.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, gave the assurance when he received the Coordinator of the Safe Corridor Programme, Kano Model, and Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, during a courtesy visit to the command headquarters in Kano.

Waiya described the Safe Corridor Programme as a strategic intervention aimed at engaging repentant political thugs and youths involved in antisocial activities, with a view to ending persistent political thuggery, gang violence and Yan Daba clashes across the state.

He stressed the need for strong collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the initiative and promote lasting peace in Kano.

Responding, Agalama commended the Kano State Government for introducing the programme, describing it as a laudable effort towards youth rehabilitation and conflict prevention.

He assured the coordinator of the command’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote public safety, peace and sustainable security.

The commandant also reaffirmed the NSCDC’s readiness to work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the programme, noting that collective action was essential in addressing security challenges and fostering socio-economic development in the state.
