The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested a 27-year-old man, Nasiru Sulaiman, for allegedly attempting to steal a commercial tricycle along IBB Road in Kano metropolis.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano. He said the suspect, an indigene of Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa, allegedly sent the tricycle rider on an errand and, while he was away, disconnected the vehicle’s ignition key and attempted to drive it away.
Abdullahi said the suspect’s suspicious movements attracted the attention of vigilant residents, who intercepted him before he could escape and subsequently handed him over to NSCDC operatives for investigation.
He quoted the State Commandant, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, as commending the residents for their prompt intervention, urging members of the public to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The commandant assured residents of the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives, property and critical national assets and infrastructure across the state. He added that investigation into the case had been completed and the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
