Army Committed to Continuous Training, Professionalism, Says COAS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of its personnel to build a professional, disciplined and combat-ready force.

Shuaibu stated this in a message delivered on his behalf by the Commander, Infantry Corps, Maj.-Gen. G.M. Mutkut, during the 68th Passing Out Parade of the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria.
The COAS described the graduation as the successful completion of six years of rigorous academic and military training, saying the cadets had acquired the knowledge, discipline, leadership qualities and patriotism required for national service.
He said the graduating cadets would contribute to the Federal Government’s efforts to expand the Nigerian Army’s force structure and enhance its operational effectiveness in tackling the nation’s security challenges.

Shuaibu urged the new soldiers to uphold the core values of duty, discipline, integrity and professionalism, stressing that all military operations must be conducted in compliance with human rights principles, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures.

He also cautioned them against the unauthorised use of social media, warning that the disclosure of operational information, military activities or sensitive locations amounted to a serious violation of military regulations.
The army chief reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the welfare and career development of its personnel through improved barracks accommodation, better welfare facilities and sponsorship opportunities for higher education in recognised institutions.

Shuaibu commended the Commandant, instructors and staff of the Nigerian Military School for their dedication in grooming the cadets, while appreciating parents and guardians for their unwavering support.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support to the operational, training and administrative needs of the Nigerian Army.
