Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has cautioned the 20 newly elected Local Government Chairmen under the APM to shun misappropriation and wastage of public resources.
The governor gave the warning on Wednesday during the swearing-in ceremony at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bala Mohammed commended the people of Bauchi for turning out to vote in line with the provisions of the Constitution stressed that his administration will not tolerate the diversion of public funds.
The governor noted that many of the new chairmen are experienced and highly educated, with degrees and PhDs, and therefore have no excuse not to deliver.
He promised to give them all the necessary support to improve the lives of their people, particularly in security, agriculture, education, and youth and women empowerment through skills acquisition.
Governor Mohammed described the just-concluded local government election as free, fair and credible noting that the results send a strong message to opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election across all 20 LGAs.
Responding on behalf of the new chairmen, the Chairman of Ningi LGA, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna thanked the people for the mandate and assured the governor of their commitment to support his development agenda for both rural and urban communities.
The swearing-in was attended by top government officials, members of the judiciary, political leaders, traditional and religious rulers, families of the new chairmen, and other invited guests.
