The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David A. B. Mark, GCON, has felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud celebration, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Kola Ologbondiyan, and issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Senator Mark described Eid-ul-Maulud as a period for sober reflection, renewed faith and rededication to the virtues of peace, tolerance, compassion, justice and service to humanity exemplified by the Holy Prophet.
The former Senate President urged Nigerians, particularly Muslim faithful, to use the occasion to offer fervent prayers for the peace, unity, security and economic prosperity of the country.
“Eid Maulud reminds us of the enduring values of humility, honesty, justice and love for one another that the Prophet Muhammad taught. As a nation, we need these values now more than ever as we navigate our current challenges,” Senator Mark said.
He noted that Nigeria’s greatest strength lies in its diversity and called on leaders at all levels to promote inclusive governance that guarantees equity, justice and dignity for every citizen, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or background.
“The African Democratic Congress remains committed to building a Nigeria where every citizen, regardless of faith, tribe or background, has equal opportunity to thrive. That is the Nigeria our founding fathers envisioned and the Nigeria we must work together to achieve,” he added.
Senator Mark also appealed to political actors to ensure that the 2027 general elections are conducted in an atmosphere of peace, tolerance and mutual respect.
He stressed that democracy can only flourish where the rights, freedoms and choices of citizens are respected and protected, urging all stakeholders to place national interest above partisan considerations.
The ADC National Chairman prayed that the blessings of Eid-ul-Maulud would bring peace, joy, good health and prosperity to Muslim families and Nigerians across the country.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee and the entire membership of the ADC, I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a peaceful, blessed and joyous Eid-ul-Maulud celebration,” he said.
