Ganduje’s Aid Urges Journalists to Highlight Kano’s Development Under Yusuf

Former Commissioner Information and Chief of Staff to former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, Mallam Muhammad Garba, has urged journalists in Kano to give positive attention to the development initiatives of the state government.

Garba made the call on Sunday while speaking at the unveiling of the newly refurbished office of the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He said that, irrespective of political differences, developments taking place across Kano indicated that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was making efforts to improve the state.

“Politics aside, Kano is actually working, and this clearly shows the concern of the government in turning things around for the benefit of the state,” Garba said.

He urged journalists to report government activities fairly and positively, stressing the importance of responsible journalism in informing the public about developments in the state.

The former Commissioner also commended the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel for improving its working environment through the renovation of its office complex.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel, Murtala Adewale, said the renovation was part of efforts by his executive to improve the welfare and working conditions of journalists.

He said the project was not merely about renovating the building but also about creating a conducive environment for journalists to work, exchange ideas and host important stakeholders.

“It’s not only about renovation; it’s about providing a conducive working environment, a centre for idea sharing, and an avenue to host important guests. We are not done yet. We will continue to serve, and serve well,” Adewale said.

He expressed appreciation to members of the renovation committee, led by Abdullahi Jalaluddeen, for their contributions towards completing the project.

Other members of the committee included Salim Umar Ibrahim, Abdullahi Yusuf, Jacob Adeola Ajakaye and Muhammad Kabir.

The renovated facility attracted commendations from media practitioners, publishers and community leaders who attended the ceremony.

Professor Sule Ya’u Sule commended the chapel’s leadership, describing the renovation as evidence of effective leadership, while Abdulsalam Muhammad urged members to continue supporting the chairman.

The Managing Director of Muhasa Radio and Television, Kano, Aishatu Sule, described the transformation of the facility as impressive.

Similarly, the publisher of SolaceBase, Abdullateef Abubakar Jos, and the publisher of Hot Pen News Magazine, Aliyu M. Dangida, praised the chapel’s leadership and the quality of work executed.

Former spokesman to former Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, Habibu Nuhu Kila, said he would encourage the Correspondents’ Chapel in Dutse to emulate the Kano initiative.

The event ended with a tour of the refurbished facility, which includes improved workspaces and conference facilities designed to enhance the working conditions of journalists operating in Kano.
