Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, for what he described as remarkable efforts in reducing thuggery and other crimes, as well as the swift arrest of suspects involved in the killing of a housewife and her six children.
The governor gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.
Governor Yusuf said he was impressed by the prompt response of the police to the tragic incident, recalling that he had requested the arrest of the suspects within 12 hours but was surprised they were apprehended within six hours.
Governor Yusuf said insecurity, particularly thuggery, banditry and kidnapping, was one of the major challenges he faced upon assuming office in 2023, but noted that the situation had significantly improved.
In his remarks, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori thanked the governor for the visit, describing it as a morale booster for officers and men of the command.
The Commissioner attributed recent successes in crime fighting to the support of the state government and effective community policing, which he said had enhanced intelligence gathering through cooperation with residents.
He assured the governor of the command’s commitment to sustaining the tempo in crime prevention and thanked him for what he described as a historic visit.
