The First Lady of Jigawa State, Amina Umar Namadi, has hosted a political gathering in Rajo Town, Limawa Ward of Dutse Local Government Area, where members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event, which attracted party stakeholders and community members, marked a significant shift in the local political landscape, with the decampees pledging their allegiance to the ruling APC.
Addressing the gathering, the First Lady welcomed the new members into the party, expressing appreciation for their decision to join the APC. She assured them of inclusive leadership, good governance and sustained delivery of development projects aimed at improving the welfare of communities across the state.

She noted that the APC administration in Jigawa remains committed to policies and programmes that promote social and economic development, urging the new entrants to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the party.
Some of the defectors, in their remarks, said their decision to join the APC was influenced by the First Lady’s leadership style, humanitarian efforts and the visible development projects being implemented across the state.
They acknowledged that despite not previously supporting the APC, recent achievements by the current administration convinced them to align with the party.
The event also highlighted the performance of the state government under Governor Umar Namadi, with speakers noting that his administration has recorded over 90 per cent progress in the implementation of its 12-point agenda.
Observers say the development reflects growing public confidence in the APC-led government in Jigawa, with indications that the administration’s performance may strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
