Nigeria Customs, Media Strengthen Partnership at Zone B Parley

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reiterated the importance of collaboration with the media in promoting public awareness, border security, and national development.

This was highlighted during the Zone B Media Parley organized by the Service under the theme, “Building Synergy Between the Media and Customs for Enhanced Stakeholders Awareness and National Development.” Held in Kano .

Speaking at the event, the Acting Customs Controller of the Kano/Katsina Area Command, Usman Adamu, commended the National Public Relations Unit of the Service for organizing the engagement, describing it as a platform that would strengthen cooperation between Customs and the media.

He said the media remained a critical partner in informing citizens about the activities of the Service and appreciated the support the Kano/Katsina Area Command had continued to receive from journalists since his assumption of office as Acting Area Controller.

In his welcome address, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano/Jigawa Command, CSP Tahir Balarabe, said the parley was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and the public through effective information dissemination.

According to him, the engagement would help ensure that accurate information about Customs operations reaches Nigerians and enhances public understanding of the Service’s activities.

Delivering his remarks, the National Public Relations Officer and Chief Image Maker of the Nigeria Customs Service, DCC Abdullahi Maiwada, appreciated media practitioners for their continued support and commitment to the Service.

Maiwada described the media as an important partner in national development through public sensitization and awareness creation, adding that the theme of the parley reflected the evolving nature of modern Customs operations.

He said the Service had intensified efforts in Information Technology development and technology-driven operations to improve efficiency and service delivery, stressing the need for accurate dissemination of information to the public.

According to him, Nigerians rely on credible information for their daily activities, making the media an indispensable stakeholder in the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Maiwada further disclosed that the Service maintains working relationships with several media organisations across the country and disseminates information in different languages to ensure wider public reach and understanding.

He urged journalists to sustain their support and professionalism in promoting the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service for the overall development of the country.
