NUC Accredits Five Academic Programmes at Northwest University Kano

The management of Northwest University Kano has announced that the National Universities Commission has granted accreditation to five academic programmes of the institution following the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Amina Salihi Bayero, disclosed this in a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Unit. The approval was conveyed in a letter dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission.

According to the statement, the accredited programmes include M.Sc Accounting under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, B.Sc Physiology under the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, B.Sc Information and Communication Technology under the Faculty of Computing, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) under the Faculty of Clinical Science, and B.Sc Physics under the Faculty of Science.

The statement noted that all the programmes received accreditation valid for five years, reflecting the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards, quality teaching, research excellence, and adequate human and material resources for effective programme delivery.

Professor Bayero described the development as a major milestone for the institution, stating that the successful accreditation was a result of the collective efforts of the university management, staff, students, governing council, and other stakeholders committed to the growth and development of the university.

She further assured members of the university community and the general public that the institution would continue to uphold quality assurance and pursue continuous improvement in all its academic programmes in line with the standards of the National Universities Commission and global best practices.
