The Kano State Government says it has released ₦200 million for the procurement of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) for pregnant women across the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Kano on ongoing interventions in the health sector.
He said the state government had also disbursed the funds through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to facilitate the procurement process and ensure quality delivery of the supplements.
Labaran explained that the initiative was aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes by addressing micronutrient deficiencies among pregnant women.
According to him, the supplements would soon be distributed to pregnant women across the state as part of efforts to reduce maternal complications and enhance healthy pregnancies.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening maternal healthcare services and partnering with development agencies to improve nutrition and healthcare delivery in Kano State.
